The purpose of this Journal is to share information relative to controlling invasive plants. It does not endorse any particular resources or vouch for the accuracy of those resources. Readers must do their own due diligence before deciding what steps to take to control invasive plants on their peoperty or in their town.

In general a local effort focuses on four basic components:

1. Educate residents regarding the threat of invasive plants, oriental bittersweet
in particular due to the damage being done to parks and woodland areas.

2. Foster community-wide partnerships and a collective effort.

3. Sponsor hands-on invasive plant remediation projects.

4. Conduct ongoing research into best control practices via contact with leading experts.
